This week is all about cleaning up your morning routine from top to bottom. Scary fact, “the average woman puts 515 synthetic chemicals on her body daily”. About 60% of what we put on our skin gets absorbed into our body, so if we are using around 500 chemicals a day, we are filling ourselves with toxic overload. Makeup, lotions, oils, hair products, perfumes, sunscreen, soaps, masks, acne medications, the list goes on and on.  I’ve included some of my favorite products I’ve switched to over the years, hopefully you’ll try and like some of them yourself! Comment below if you have others you love!

  • Dr. Bronner’s Lavender Shave Soap: Smooth & Moisturizing: The organic and vegan ingredients are combined with a pure-castile liquid soap base for a rich, emollient lather and a moisturizing after feeling.
  • Dr. Bronner's Pure-Castile Liquid Soap Citrus Scent -This stuff is multi-purpose, smells great, and the big bottles seriously last forever.  You can find the peppermint scent at Costco, but Target & Amazon carry multiple scents.
  • Foundation-This is HARD TO FIND A CLEAN BRAND YOU LOVE! I know, I’ve tried them all and these are the two I love. For summertime, when you need less coverage and something light that doesn’t make you oily in the sun, go for Juice Beauty. You can barely tell you have it on, but it does have great coverage. Once fall and winter hit, I swap over to Honest Beauty’s Cream Foundation. I really like this one when my skin starts to dry out as the weather cools off, plus it lasts all day which is something hard to find with clean foundations!
  • Deodorant: I think this may be the hardest product to swap out. Most deodorant brands we buy at the store have multiple toxic ingredients in the (aluminum being high on the list of most dangerous). The ingredients are there to clog your pores to prevent sweating and body odor from coming out, but there is the possibility that by clogging those pores, we are trapping toxins in our body, which could lead to cancer or other illness. More specifically to women, we could be setting ourselves up for breast cancer down the road. No one wants to be a hot sweaty mess, or a stinky one for that matter, so finding a clean deodorant should be your high on your list. Kopari & Schmidts are two brands I switch between. Native is another great brand you can also find easily on Amazon.  If you feel like your natural deodorant isn’t strong enough or isn’t doing its job, you may need to do an armpit detox to get rid of those built up toxins before starting your new deodorant.
  • Make Up: I know I already included foundation, but for everything else make up, look to Honest Beauty or Juice Beauty. Between the two lines, you can find everything from blush, eye liner, mascara, lipstick, lip gloss, brow pencils, face washes, lotions, aging treatments, acne treatments, face oils, highlighter, bronzer, etc. I love that both websites offer bundles that save you money and make ordering easy. They also have great customer service if you need help finding the right shade/color for your skin tone.

  • Kora Organics Self-Tanning Lotion: This stuff is awesome, it doesn’t turn your skin orange, but does give you a healthy glow. You can use it daily to build up your tan for a special event, or once a week for a light healthy glow all year round. This is probably the most expensive item on the list, but the bottle does last a very long time, and is much cheaper than going into the salon for spray tans. Warning: it does have the same weird smell that other self-tanners have.
  • Toothpaste: My favorite is Tom’s Flouride Free. This stuff seriously tastes great, keeps your chompers pearly white, and I honestly haven’t had a cavity since switching. I also use Tom’s mouthwash.  (of course, floss daily too to keep your mouth and your dentist happy).
  • Dry Shampoo-Lulu Organics Dry Shampoo-I’ve found this works whether my hair is blonde or brunette! Has some serious absorbing power and smells great!
  • Skylar Perfume-Willow is my go-to daily spray. I love how you can actually pronounce the ingredients and when you buy a Sample Palette, you earn a $20 credit that can be used on a full-sized perfume purchase. This is a great way to test them all and find your signature scent. Another thing I like to do for body spray is use Young Living’s Essential Oil Blend called Stress Away. It has a sweet and calming scent that is great to dab on your wrists and behind your ears in the middle of a hectic workday.
  • There you have it, my top 9 clean beauty swaps. Don’t feel like you must overhaul your entire bathroom in a day, just start reading the ingredient on your products, if you don’t know what it something is, there’s a good chance that could be causing your body some harm. Just like with our food, organic is always best, but as clean as possible is the goal! We’ll be back next week with a list of non-toxic cleaning supplies!0767710001565704714.jpg0598003001565704741.jpg0856473001565704758.jpg0417336001565704730.jpg0332054001565704663.jpg0636094001565704695.jpg0762245001565704686.jpg0702949001565704674.jpg0469719001565704646.jpg0005995001565704624.jpg
